Social Commitment

This applies not only to each individual, but also to us as a company. Since 2005, we have therefore been actively involved in the social sector under the motto“SIP Aid: Scooter riders help!”, and donate to charitable organisations such as SOS Children’s Villages or Arche Deutschland for every online order we receive. We provide transparent information on the scope and partners of the SIP Aid project. Find out more about the SIP Aid project.

Environmental Responsibility

The careful use of natural resources is a key objective for us. We recognise that resources are not just to be used, but also need to be protected. We pursue this objective in various areas of our business through specific measures, including in building services, logistics, packaging and energy supply.

Energy-efficient logistics and administration building

When constructing our new logistics and administration building in 2016, we significantly exceeded the strict, applicable EnEV regulations. A groundwater heat pump harnesses energy from the ground; underfloor heating throughout the building operates with low energy consumption; and all glazing and windows in the building are triple-glazed. All lighting fixtures utilise state-of-the-art LED technology that automatically adjusts to daylight levels and can be dimmed. We have avoided installing energy-intensive ventilation or air-conditioning systems, just as we have avoided using building materials that have to be transported from far away. Local contractors constructed the building using regionally sourced materials such as steel and concrete.

On-site electricity generation – PV system

Since April 2023, we have been generating electricity from solar power using our 185 kW peak photovoltaic system, fitted with the most advanced modules available. On sunny days, this enables us to generate up to 1.5 MWh of electricity per day and achieve a self-sufficiency rate of up to 91 per cent. Charging points for cars are available to staff, powered by electricity from renewable energy sources.

100% hydroelectric power

Nuclear power has lost its ‘clean’ image, and not just since Fukushima. Electricity generated from fossil fuels pollutes our atmosphere with immense CO₂ emissions. We have switched the electricity requirements of our premises in Landsberg – which cannot be met by our own PV system – to green electricity generated from 100 per cent hydropower. Our regional energy supplier, Lechwerke, has this electricity certified by TÜV Süd. Sustainability in many areas

In our dispatch and administration departments, we are implementing various measures to reduce material usage: the cardboard boxes and packing material for parcels have therefore long been made from recycled paper rather than bubble wrap. In areas where no suitable paper-based alternatives are available to protect the goods or for weight-related reasons (e.g. overseas air freight), plastics continue to be used.

We now only use shipping envelopes made from recycled paper instead of plastic, as well as our invoicing paper. In your customer account at www.sip-scootershop.com, you can choose for yourself whether you need a printed paper invoice at all, or whether the PDF version is sufficient for you. More and more administrative areas of the SIP Scootershop have already been fully digitised, with others following gradually.

Packaging

Our packaging consists mainly of paper and cardboard, both of which are recyclable. Our aim is to limit packaging to the absolute minimum. The paper alone that we used to consume annually for delivery notes, invoices and internal processes would have been enough to fill around 20 football pitches – not a pleasant thought when, like us, you’re mindful of sustainability every day. By streamlining our internal processes, we’ve been able to significantly reduce our paper consumption compared to previous years. For items that still need to be packed in cardboard, we use packaging that’s as plastic-free as possible, recyclable and focused on the essentials – so that it’s not just the scooter that brings joy, but the parcels too.

Bavarian Environment and Climate Pact

The Bavarian Environment and Climate Pact is an agreement between the Bavarian State Government and the Bavarian business community. It is based on voluntary participation, personal responsibility and cooperation.

The aim is to promote environmental protection measures through personal responsibility and cooperation. With the measures we have implemented, we meet the requirements and are participating in the Bavarian Environmental and Climate Pact.
